What about Langtry Manor in Bournemouth?
It is meant to be very romantic and they do special romantic breaks in various rooms. They also do a banquet of a 5 course meal.

take a look at the website.

Leeds Castle isn’t too far from you, just over the border in Kent. . . . . .
Or the magnificent woods on the Chiltern Hills just north west of London…Ashridge,Dunstable Downs, Whipsnade Zoo, Coombe Hill, Wendover….lots of pleasant B&B’s , hotels, lovely scenery and autumn colours. If you’re driving, easy from Essex…M25, M1, turn off at St.Albans for a look at the historic town and the lake, oldest pub in Britain,,,Ye Olde Fighting Cocks…where CAMRA started, then up the A5 for 8 miles and through the lanes from Markyate, or carry on to Dunstable 4 miles further, turn left at the big crossroads in the town centre , and head up to the Downs, then Ashridge through the lanes from there. Nice trip, very scenic.
Piccies on here, St. Albans Cathedral, pub and lake . . . .
    Ashridge . . .http://www.nationaltrust.org.uk/main/w-ashridge . .
    Whipsnade Zoo . . . . . .
More about the area on here , links to more Q’s and sites. Lovely area . . . . .
